STORY

Seeds of Hope is an organization co-founded by high school freshman, Alexis Werner and outreach specialist from the University of Pittsburgh, Gregg Dietz in 2010. The mission is to advocate for veterans and their families suffering from the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder and poverty.

Three projects were created to accomplish the group's mission. First, 15 victory gardens were planted in local communities and Fisher House Foundation locations nationwide. All of the produce was donated directly back to veterans and their families.

The second project was a student made children's book called, "Beginning Hope." The book focused on the themes of veteran appreciation, volunteering, and nutrition. The book has been read to 676 elementary students nationwide.

Our Way Home is the group's newest project. From the generosity of Suni Harford, Three Rivers Community Foundation, and individual donations Our Way Home will help veterans with Post Traumatic Stress find support and educate the community about the psychological effects of war.

FILM

OUR WAY HOME is a documentary that explores the psychological effects of war, specifically Post Traumatic Stress (PTS). We have documented the homecoming stories of United States veterans from World War Two until present day. How has the culture changed the way what was traditionally known as "shell shock" into a serious disorder that effects 7.7 million Americans every day? How can society help ease this transition? Most importantly, where can veterans with PTS get help?
